Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) involves inserting a hair-thin needle into your muscle knots, triggering a reflexive twitch. This involuntary response helps muscles reset and relax. Often, patients experience enhanced mobility, reduced tightness, and diminished pain.
The insertion is barely noticeable. But, you will feel a deep ache or a strange sensation during the twitch response. Post-treatment, expect a few hours to a few days of soreness akin to post-vaccination. Relief typically follows, with many patients eager for subsequent sessions.
When muscle tightness and dysfunction is causing pain, decreased mobility, and limited function. Often we classify our pain as coming from a joint: "Shoulder Pain" or "Neck Pain", when really it might by "Upper Trapezius Pain" or "Infraspinatus Pain" (one of our rotator cuff muscles).
